If you wish to study in Greece you must have a valid student visa (it must be a student visa and not any other kind of visa).

A student visa is a three months single entry visa, with which you have the right to apply for a residence permit (valid for one year and renewed until the end of your studies) when you arrive in Greece

The Greek Government issues student visas for full-time study on the understanding that you study on-campus (and not on a distance-learning mode for example) and have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and living expenses while in Greece.

To apply for a visa, contact the nearest Greek Diplomatic Mission (Embassy, Consulate or Consulate-General, Liaison Office).

Furthermore all students must carefully check the individual visa requirements relevant to their country of origin, and the education sector for which they are applying:

China	A certificate from GLOBAL that you are a student Filled in and signed application form, with one recent photo Presentation of a valid passport Photocopy of the passport’s first page Family Register (hu kou) Personal interview with the student Health Certificate Criminal Record (legalized by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Evidence of adequate financial means Graduation Diploma from a Senior High School (legalized by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs)	All documents need to be translated in Greek (by authorized translator) and certified by the appropriate authorities e.g. Greek Consulate.
FYROM	A certificate from GLOBAL that you are a student Passport and a photocopy of the passport Insurance certificate (zdravstvena legitimacija) and a photocopy of it 2 photos Health certificate Proof of non-criminal record	All documents need to be translated in Greek and certified by the appropriate authorities e.g. Greek Consulate.
India		All documents need to be translated in Greek (by authorized translator) and certified by the appropriate authorities e.g. Greek Consulate.
Serbia & Montenegro	A certificate from GLOBAL that you are a student Contract for renting an apartment in Greece Passport and a photocopy of the passport Insurance certificate and a photocopy of it Health Certificate 2 photos Visa fee	All documents need to be translated in Greek (by authorized translator) and certified by the appropriate authorities e.g. Greek Consulate.
Romania	A certificate from GLOBAL that you are a student Passport and a photocopy of the passport Insurance certificate and a photocopy of it Health Certificate 2 photos Visa fee	All documents need to be translated in Greek (by authorized translator) and certified by the appropriate authorities e.g. Greek Consulate.
