Projects vary in length and can provide a range of outputs to suit your needs. The cost to your business is negotiable, however, contribution is required to cover the cost of departmental supervision and expenses.

BIMA

BIMA is a dynamic work experience programme dedicated to the provision of challenging projects for ambitious undergraduates to undertake in small businesses, community organisations and social enterprises.

How will I benefit?

Organisations benefit from having the skills and enthusiasm of a hard working enterprising undergraduate focused on a specific project, which might be an outstanding problem or a new opportunity.

You gain a fresh perspective, access to new skills and technology and recruitment opportunities and the student gains vital awareness of how business works and the experience of putting theory into practice.

What types of projects are available?

BIMA helps to identify issues facing an organisation and translates them into a definable and structured project that the host organisation does not have the time or resources in-house to complete. Undergraduates are not expected to be an expert in the field, but have the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to complete a given project. There are no real restrictions on the type of project that a student may undertake, but examples include:

• Setting up IT systems
• Design and implementation of websites
• Marketing plans
• Analysis of production methods and more

How much will the student be paid?

Students who undertake part-time projects or those of different lengths will be paid a pro rata allowance based on this rate. If carrying out a 12-month project, payment will be agreed at the discretion of the host company
