Who are we?

The Academic Office staff are involved in academic management and administration.

The Academic Office main role is to act as the definitive record keeper about students and courses on behalf of the College. In doing this it provides important services to the student and academic communities. Its work underpins a student's academic experience from application through to graduation, including enrolment, fee paying, assessment, complaint, discipline, graduation, parchment and transcript production.

It guides and supports the work of academic and administrative staff in a number of areas including: College and other regulations, institutional and national quality matters, admissions and student assessment.

The Office is split into four Divisions.

The four Divisions are:
Staff are involved in
  • ensuring that Senate and its committees work effectively
  • maintaining and enhancing the University's academic quality assurance systems by, for example,
    • helping to develop the University's academic policy and procedures
    • encouraging co-ordination and sharing of good practice between departments and faculties
    • helping departments to prepare for external reviews of Learning and Teaching
    • liaising with and providing information to the Quality Assurance Agency
    • ensuring fairness and good procedural practice in student appeals and disciplinary matters
